Utilities

Reliable energy resources along with competitive prices help drive economic growth. Within the last decade New York state restructured its electric industry to provide more choices for businesses and has delivered billions of dollars in rate reductions.

Utility providers offer several programs that help businesses control costs and better understand their energy use. Other services benefit companies that are developing new or current commercial sites and buildings or otherwise expanding their business.

The three major providers in Tech Valley are Central Hudson Gas & Electric, National Grid and New York State Electric & Gas. Additionally, several communities – including Plattsburgh, Lake Placid, Rouses Point, Tupper Lake and Green Island – are served by municipal electric companies offering some of the cheapest electricity rates in the country.
